Tights

 

I've been in a tights wearing mood lately. 

Top photo I paired a cheap Kohls SO grey skirt with Simply Vera Wang bright blue tights.
Bottom photo are Apt. 9 purple checkered tights, my current favorite Madden Girl boots, and a grey dress.

I think I might wear a more neutral pair tonight.

You can take these same concepts and design your own clutch. 

Find something that isn't too tough to paint. Meaning, pick a sturdy leather or vinyl. I'm sure you can do this on softer leathers as well, but it might be easier on something a bit stiff. Nab some acrylic paints in whatever color you want, and go crazy. To get long straight lines, painters tape might be the way to go. For other patterns, look for fun stencils to use. With stencils, you may even be able to use spray paint.

I've been busy on Polyvore this afternoon! I love playing with colors.  This particular set was inspired by the three pieces of jewelry pictured.  All come from the same handmade jewelry shop.

The owner of the online boutique, Julie, uses many mediums to get an almost bohemian rustic feel in her pieces. Gemstones, mixed metals, colors, vintage beads, charms, and tons of textures.
These darker pieces would be great on top of white and peach. All very affordable too! 
(ok, all except maybe that clutch I included in the mix. We can dream though.)

Perfect for a punch of texture and color on top of any outfit.

Avengers Makeup Eyeshadow

I think this falls under being able to be a nerd AND look stunning, at the same time.
Jangsara is a makeup blog I came across for the first time. Thank you pinterest! She has tons of really unique looks, as well as some more neutral pieces for those who just need some eyeshadow tips. 

This serious just blows my mind though. I've loved all the Avengers movies. I will admit, I never read the comics. I was a book girl, and had it in my head growing up that something with so many photos just couldn't be as good to read as something with no images.Since the movies started coming out, I've seen them all, and read up on many of the characters. These looks would be perfect to wear out to the next flick, for a Halloween party, or just to support your favorite character.
She even gives links to each character step by step and tells you what products were used. Sweet!

While hunting, some other super hero pieces came up as well.

Spring Cleaning your Closet - Simplify your Wardrobe

I need to do some spring cleaning. Mostly, it needs to be on my closet. 

Can I use the singular form 'closet' even though I have way more than one clothing location? hahah.

This house has two closets total. One in each bedroom. No linen closets or coat closets in the entry way, nothing! It makes it really hard to keep your things organized when you are sharing them with the manpiece. 

Right now I have one full closet, one half closet, a shelving unit, and half a dresser.

 

There is one closet. All my tank tops, and a rack of shoes (flats, sandals, and smaller sneakers) are visible. To the right is all my long sleeve shirts. Not a whole lot because it's only cold 2-3 months of the year here in Texas. To the left is all my skirts and dresses and some fun randomness like halloween costumes. 

We won't talk about how old some of those are.

Yikes. Lets see, all my shorts, some jeans, lounge pants, denim skirts, a ton of graphic tees and band tees.

Oh, and that box on top holds all my tights and leggings. 

Like I said. That's all just a portion of what there is. All my short sleeve blouses are in the other closet. 

We won't mention how many pairs of jeans are next to the bed on the floor.
Now is the the time to clean them out. I think this calls for a series of posts on how to simplify your wardrobe. Not only are some of my pieces old, worn out, and never worn, but I've also lost quite a bit of weight. I probably have 10 pairs of jeans and shorts that are STILL too big on me even with a belt. hehe.

Get Crafty - DIY designer sunglasses

There is a new set of sunglasses out by a-morir.

The price of these flower rimmed shades will set you back between $250-$400. 

 

 There is still a way to get some trendy flowered glasses without breaking the bank if you have a few bucks, an old pair of shades, and some strong glue.

 The flowers on this set look porcelain. While pretty, that may chip and break easier than another material. Plastic would be much more durable. A quick search on a popular online marketplace (etsy) for pastel resin  flower cabochons brings up quite a few options! I'd suggest using a thick rimmed pair of glasses so you have more surface area to work with and can fit more flowers. 

If you live in a cool enough climate, you may be able to get away with using a hot glue gun to secure your blossoms, but if your summer gets hot, you probably want to pick up a tube of E6000 or something similar.

Go crazy! There are many different types of flowers in so many colors, you aren't limited to the purple/pink/blue combo, or the boring black ones that amorir sells. (lets face it, the black ones just wouldn't be worth it!). Try out roses, daisies, lotus, or one of the many other options.

Galaxy Shoes

I've recently become addicted to Wanelo. It's very similar to Pinterest. The only difference really is that Wanelo is a little harder to learn and navigate, is entirely too slow, and it's meant for products. 

The tagline on the main page is "find unique products from stores you've never heard of". Probably not great for someone with a shopping addiction to browse.... haha.

Tonight I'm browsing shoes. 

I have an obsession with galaxy print. I don't own anything in it, (hmm why not!?) but I do love it. 

Wanelo brought me to this brand new Etsy shop called KillerConstellations. I have a feeling I should keep following them... I bet they end up carrying some great designs.
