Someone keep me mooootivated please!!! haha

I'm terrible at keeping up with this blog.
Working 50 hours a week and trying to upkeep two etsy shops takes a lot out of you!
Blogging is a little bit of a relaxing break though, so I know I need to keep up with it better.
 I'll try harder, promise ;-)

Vest: thrifted at Buffalo Exchange
Shirt: lace sleeve boatneck from Rue 21.
Capris: Rue 21.
All three pieces cost about $25 combined. Paired with studded sandals (paprika brand), lots of bracelets, and my brand new necklace from Etsy. (more on that later!!)

Most of last nights outfit. I didn't think about taking a photo until after I got home, at 2am.  Contacts were already out, and shoes were already off. Oh well! This is the first tiny vest I've worn in awhile. I have one or two others, but they aren't as 'tight'. I thrifted this down in Dallas at Buffalo Exchange last week. This is the smallest I've been since about my Junior year in high school.  I'm just now starting to feel comfortable in more body hugging clothes. Maybe more of them to come. I have about 2 sizes left to lose.

Above mentioned necklace. I have a love for anything Stephen Gammell. He's the guy who did all the art in the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books. You may recognize this from the cover of the first book. I found an Etsy shop who had it in her shop. I'm not quite sure if that's copy write infrindgement or not, but, I wanted it. Not too happy with the illegal use of a priority mailer turned inside out to ship it 1st class.... but.. yeah.

Nakia. I saw he was coming to Iron Horse and had no idea who he was, but someone said he was famous so I googled. He was on The Voice. He sounded awesome, so since it's a normal weekend place for us, we decided to go check it out. Very glad we went! Since all I heard on youtube were covers he played on The Voice, I really didn't know what to expect. It was blues. GOOD blues. Sadly, I really do not like music that makes me want to fall asleep while I'm drinking a beer, so about half of what they played I was fairly bored while watching. The more upbeat songs had my attention though. You can't tell from the photo, but Nakia is wearing sunglasses here. Wearing sunglasses while playing in a bar at night is kind of like wearing an Ed Hardy shirt to me... you don't do it unless you want to look like a Dbag. Thankfully, he ditched them a few songs in. Their guitar player is where it's at though. That guy was fantastic. Very fantastic.
They didn't play too much that I recognized. A good amount was original.
I did manage to snag a 1 minute video of a cover of Sex is on Fire though. (kings of leon)
I like it better than the original!

 Yellow floral shorts: Rue21
White button down: Aeropostale
White beaded flats: Steve Madden

The only way to get used to posing for the camera is to practice right?
One of these days I'll get over my camera fright.
Until then, you can have some awkward photos of me.
As I climb the pecan tree in the front yard.

What do you do to feel more comfortable in front of the camera lens?

Outfit 6/8 Stripes and Fire Shoes

Can you tell from the first photo these pants are getting a bit too big on me? Most would say that's a good thing, but really... when you don't have the money to go blow on jeans,
going through them so quickly is a little of a pain! haha.
Jeans are Amethyst brand from Debs. $7. Cheap, but you can tell. I can only wear these with shirts long enough to cover the front zipper, which falls down often. ;-)

Shirt is GirlTalk, which I picked up at Buffalo Exchange while in Dallas.

Shoes:  Steve Madden
Bracelets: cheap kids beads (I have some stocked in every color for stacking)
Orange vintage bangle: thrifted
Ring: Craft fair. I wish I still had the business card, they sell on Etsy. (you can find something similar here)
Necklace: Thrifted.

Last Thursday was my day off work to go pick my mom up to hang out. We went downtown thrifting, out to eat, and a few other fun places. This necklace was only $12! Completely perfect condition.
I absolutely HAD to have it. The beads are glass, the pendant is metal, and it's heavy.

Just now I went looking to find out how old this is. I know its vintage, but wasn't sure how old. Turns out that this $12 find is worth somewhere between $80-$120. bahaha. I scored!
KJL for Avon.
You can find a similar one for sale here.

Outfit 5/31 Antique hunting

 Wearing:
Red racer back tank
Black tank
Mustard lace top from Forever21
My favorite pair of jeans from US Polo
Boots from Shoe Carnival
Vintage beaded necklace
Vintage ceramic fish (broken bracelet DIY'd into a ring)

Today was my first weekday I have taken off work in a few months. I went up to pick up my mom to spend the day with her. It was quite the relaxing day! Did a little bit of shopping downtown in the antique stores, bought myself some new shorts and capris (I had one pair that fit me. eeek!), and scored a handful of denim to destroy. I'm hopefully going to turn a few pairs of jeans into cut off shorts, and attack them with studs, bright colored dye, fabrics, and whatever else I may come across to add on!

I bought that brass deer statue for $3!! It will make a great ring holder.

Me and the Momma bear being silly, or well, normal to us!

My uncle also just bought a brand new house. Lets just say, it has a LOT of land.
This is the view from his driveway, out back. Absolutely gorgeous!!

Has anyone else seen the film Troll Hunter? It's shot in "found footage" style of a group of students who follow around a guy whose job is to hunt down trolls that are causing problems. It's a foreign film. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. It's a bit boring at times, but by the end it's worth it. A huge bonus is where it was shot. The scenery in the entire movie is completely amazing. Anyways, any time I pass huge electric lines like that? I think of that movie. They were used to keep trolls in!
I may need to set up a night camera and see if I can spot any wandering monsters. ;-)

Instagrid

Instagram finally became available for the Android. YAY!
I went ahead and downloaded it. So far, I really don't like it as much as the filters and such you can use on Mytubo, but I'll get used to it, and maybe there are addons?
You can follow me @alterdelenda

I also set up an Instagrid for it. I'm @alterdelenda over there too!
Still playing with the app and getting used to it. Any Instagram tips out there from any of you who use it?

outfit 4/28

I don't normally do any sort of outfit posts for this blog, even though I'd like to. On the weekdays, I sit in a cubicle at work for 8-10 hrs, so my choice of attire is normally jeans, sneakers, and a band tee shirt. Gasp and consider it lame but when you're sitting still that long, comfort is pretty high on the importance scale.

The other reason... No white walls to make for a decent backdrop. We really only have one room in the house with white walls. Currently, we're renting a pretty tiny house that has many quirky traits. First, the only room that has good wall space at the moment is the living room, but the walls are painted this terrible eggplant rose mixture. That is the closest I can get to a description, though there really are no exact words to describe it. Other traits include the inside/outside carpeting that's in the kitchen (yes, I said KITCHEN), and the fact there are only two closest in the whole house... one in each bedroom. Zero storage space.
Could I take photos outside? Probably.
Can I take them outside at night after go the entire day without a camera around? Not so much.

I'm probably leaving out the biggest reason I don't do the photo thing... I am not fond of being in front of the camera. To quote Ricky Bobby "I don't know what to do with my hands".
I always feel awkward, and in return, the photos that come out look awkward.

9pm on a Saturday night right before we're headed out to a few of our favorite bars/music venues to see friends and watch some good live music, I decided to take the plunge.

Black basic racer bank tank. Grey sleeveless vest, thrifted.
White striped Old Navy shorts.
Blue Simply Vera leggings.
Black Madden Girl boots.
Silver and rhinestone owl charm. Coral vintage beaded necklace.
Purple long dangle earrings from FiveLittleGems

The result? The knowledge that I need to fix the lighting in the living room, and maybe take some time to study the art of the outfit photo.
